Tidal elecricity for 800 homes in Northern Ireland |

The world's first commercial tidal energy generator has been unveiled in Northern Ireland before its installation this summer at Strangford Lough. Bristol-based Marine Current Turbines unveiled the SeaGen 1MW twin-turbine tidal device at the Harland and Wolff shipyard outside Belfast. |

Energy Performance Certificates unlikely to have much impact |

From June, all houses sold in the UK must be assessed for energy efficiency and carbon emissions. Properties will be issued with an Energy Performance Certificate, which will rate them between A and G, and include recommendations for improving efficiency.

Emerald Chest invests in Tidal Power |

Emerald Chest has bought a stake in Marine Current Turbines Ltd (MCT), the leading developers of tidal power technology. MCT has had a prototype generator in the Bristol Channel at Lynmouth since 2003. The first commercial prototype will be installed in Strangford Lough, Northern Ireland within the next twelve months. |
